Doctor Visit #3

On Thursday Karthik and I went to our third doctor visit. It was a very fast office visit. They just did the usual stuff (urine test, checked my weight, and used a doppler listen to the baby's heart beat). I was a little disappointed because I was really hoping that she would tell us what the sex is. Yes, I know it's still too early, but there is always hope. She said next visit they are going to do a Down Syndrome test. I'm not worried at all about it. I'm more anxious for her to do the ultrasound in two months so I can finally find out it it's a boy or girl. Can you tell that I really want to know what it is!!!????

Where Does the Time Go?

I have been meaning to post for over a week now! The Sunday before last we went with two of our friends, Cynthia and Cameron to the Big Thicket. We packed up Henna and Sam along with enough food to easily last a week for a nice day hike. We got to see carnivorous plants and spiders almost as big as my hand!

Coffee Dreams

I have been dying for a Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks! I was dreaming this morning that Jack called me and asked to go to the store for him to get toilet paper and paper towels. (I have no I idea why...let’s face it Jack would never give up an opportunity to go to the store!) While I was at the store, I realized that I was free of a certain person's watchful eye so I could buy all the candy and other forbidden stuff I wanted to. I was now on a new mission. I started to look around and then I saw it...Starbucks. I went to the counter and ordered a caramel macchiato. The lady at the counter handed me my drink which I could not wait to devour. I brought the cup to my lips; I could even feel how hot the coffee was. It was right then that I realized that I am pregnant and can't drink coffee so with a sigh I put the cup down and woke up. How sad is that??? I can't even drink coffee when I'm dreaming...this baby is worse than its father! Between the two of them I'll never get to eat/drink anything good not even in my DREAMS!

I Couldn't Help Myself!!!!

Yesterday during my lunch, I went to Walgreens and saw the cutest shirts! I couldn't help myself even though the baby won't be able to wear these until he/she is 6 months old I had to buy them!

Oh Boy!! But Hopefully a Girl!!!

Well as you have all heard by now Karthik and I are expecting!! I am due on May 14, 2008. As you can tell I want a girl. Karthik says he wants a boy a little more than a girl. The only problem with a boy is we can not agree on a name. Soooo If y'all have any suggestions for boy names now is the time to speak up!! I'm rooting for Jacob (so we can call him Jake). Karthik likes Agastya and Arjun (his parents suggested that one). We both like Abigail Marie Mekala for a girl. Now I'm just waiting for someone (ahem Lauren, Amity, and Stacy) to become pregnant so I don't have to be the only one. When we went to the doctor last Tuesday she took the ultrasound picture and found that baby's heart rate is 130 beats per minute. She also said that everything else looks great :) Though, I almost had to put Karthik in the hospital because he would not stop trying looking at the chart to see how much I weigh. The nurse gave a good suggestion and said that I can have him wait outside while they weigh me. We have not been able to cook at home for awhile now because the smell makes me sick. My poor husband has been enduring sandwiches and box dinners. Other than that I have not really have not had any other symptoms. Well, we go back to the doctor on November 1st so I'll have more news later!!!

ONE MORE WEEK!!!

So, I was looking at my schedule and realized I only have one week of school left!! It still has not sunk in yet that this Saturday will be the last test I'll have to take in college. I have this feeling that once I finish these two classes, I'll find out from UH that I have been misinformed and still have to take more. Hence, I'm going to call my counselor (who I'm sure is getting sick of me) for the billionth time to make absolute sure that I'm done. I’m planning on calling Methodist this Monday to set up some sort of meeting with the HR recruiter, which I’m really nervous about. Well enough about me. Karthik is filling out applications for medical school. We will find out how he did on this last test in about a month or so. He has already resigned up to take it again in August. I can’t wait for his interview in Miami!!! He started taking swimming lesions last week and is doing really well. We went the other day to go practice and I have to say I was impressed. He doesn’t seem to be scared of the water anymore and can almost float!! We have joined the YMCA to attempt to get into shape. Now we just to find time to go. Well that’s about it in our world. I’m assuming that there is nothing new in y’all since there hasn’t been an update since 1947!

Cheap Post

Ok, I know this is a cheap post but I have midterms this Thursday. Y'all have probably already seen these (well those of you that actually look on my myspace page).

Finally someone explains how I feel about monopoly. (Not for children's ears!!!)

I Was Thinking....

Mom and I were talking today about taking a family vacation. It was soooo much fun last summer at Phil and Lauren’s wedding that I would love to attempt to take another family vacation with the WHOLE family!! Maybe this time something a little closer to home...or maybe not....I was thinking of renting a cabin and going tubing or something. What do y'all think? Any suggestions of where to go or what to do? Of course we could go to some cool place in Mexico or something…. I would really like to do something this summer with the whole family. I'm making Karthik take swimming lessons at the beginning of the summer so that he will be prepared!!! I just think that if everyone does want to do something we should start looking into it now. This way I can start planning and saving. Maybe we can combine it into a graduation celebration for me too!! :)

Anniversary Trip!!

We had the BEST time!!!! Someone was supposed to pack the night before we left but (he) fell asleep instead so we left a little later than we thought we were. Since we were running late we decided stop off for some Indian food (yuuuuuuuuum). Since the cabins were 5 hours away, we wanted to break up the drive so we didn't spend our whole anniversary driving, so we stayed at Phil's house Friday night. Everything was right on schedule we almost had everything packed when Sam ran out of Phil's house!! After, we got him we realized that Karthik locked the door!!! Lucky for us we had our cell phones and car keys! We met halfway to Austin to pick up the keys to the house. After allllllll that.....we headed out....late but still in good spirits!! The cabins were great! I'm not used to things being so quit! I also didn't realize how much we would learn! Like lesson number 1: Karthik can not skip...(it's so funny to watch it looks more like gallop). I got to see pigs!!! I have never seen them so close before!!! (Well not that I can really remember anyways). We took pictures of me next to the pigs but for some reason the pictures are really dark. When we got back from our walk we made dinner and exchanged gifts!!! I got a diamond necklace!!! I was really, really surprised considering we agreed on a $50 limit!!! I got Karthik a massager.
We made plans to wake up at 6 A.M. get ready and go to Lost Maples State Park.
6 AM came and went and were were still in bed sleeping...(IT WAS COLD!!!) We got up around 8Am, instead. We learned a lot there too! Like it helps to bring a backpack...and oh yeah FOOD!!! We walked for about 6 hours! It was sooo much fun, we hiked until it started to get dark!! We went back to the cabin made dinner and played Uno...lets see who won??? OH YEAH THAT WOULD BE ME! We were so tired from hiking we fell asleep before midnight. (honestly, I forgot it was New Year's eve)!! We woke up the next morning packed and headed to Austin. We got to see Brad's new house! Which I liked a lot!!! It was really nice! Brad, Philip, Karthik, and I went out to Chil's for lunch. After, hanging out with Brad for a couple of hours it was time to head home!!!
