I FOUND IT!!!

This past week Ethan made a discovery....

He likes to try many different combinations; you know, just to keep things interesting.
Today being Saturday, we went at 6:00 AM to the Portsmouth market. As I have told many of you, it is an open air market where you buy your weekly fish and produce.

Even Ethan wonders why we are outside at 6:30 AM...

This is the road we walk to get to Portsmouth.

This is where the buses pick you up for 1.50. (Really they are minivans)

We are in Portsmouth but still not to the market.
We're at the market!!! (Karthik would like me to note that he is sticking out his stomach because he was holding Ethan).
After Karthik drank all of his coconut water, (gross) he got it cut open so he could eat the inside.
Yuck! As you can tell I don't like them very much.
There is a guy preaching to the shoppers.
And this is just one example of the 3,874,598,347,598,347 chickens that roam free here.

More Peas

Last week, we started Ethan on solid food. We have been giving him rice cereal for the past week, so today I thought I would let him try peas. As you can see, he didn't care for it too much at first but it started to grow on him. Ethan is a great eater just like his mom and dad! He devourers the rice cereal. The peas on the other hand, not so much. One spoonful he looks like it's not so bad, the next spoonful he looks like you just gave him the most disgustingly, vial food ever! He is such a funny boy.

Today I went with a friend to the Cabritas National Park. Even though it was not the best day to go, (it was raining a lot) you could still see how pretty it was. I have been wanting to take pictures outside our house but it has been raining pretty much nonstop for the past 2 days. So maybe next post I'll have some pictures.

Karthik is doing good. He is studying a lot (notice the picture). Ethan and I miss him but we know that this is for the greater good. He does come out for the important stuff like Ethan's first feeding, or taking him to daycare for the first time, and of course whenever some organization is giving away free food.

These videos really go with Ethan's feeding story but I spent over an hour trying to get them to upload correctly so they'll just have to be at the bottom of this post.

White Coat Ceremony

On Friday Karthik had his white coat ceremony, which has been preformed since the 1990's. This is a tradition in which the school welcomes 1st-year students as colleagues dedicated to patient care. Ethan made himself famous by crying when a man stood up to the national anthem. I did not get to see much of the ceremony because the spouses were waaaaaaay in the back corner of the room. They had the prime minister of Dominica there, who is evidently is in the Guiness Book of World Records as the world's youngest prime minister. Before the ceremony, I spent the day in Roseau shopping. I was not able to take pictures because I had Ethan with me. I'll take some next time. We came back with just enough time for me to change and grab a bottle for Ethan. My new friend, Jennifer was nice enough to take my bags to her house so I could make it to the ceremony in time. We got our barells in on Friday too! It is so super nice to have them! We have our own clean sheets again! Yaaaay! We also have our phone so if anyone wants to call, they can. Well I was going to write more but Ethan is waking up so I guess I'll have to continue this later!

Shave and a Haircut...

While going through my pictures, I realized that I forgot to post about Ethan's haircut. As most of you know Ethan's hair was looking rather patchy so we decided to buzz his hair (cousin Blake would be so proud)! We tried to get all of it but I have noticed quit a few long hairs waiving in the breeze.

Also, Ethan and I went to the pool with some new friends of ours Joshua and Jennifer (not pictured...I'll have to get a picture of her next time I see her).

Dominica!

Sorry it has taken me so long to post! We are finally at the point where a faint outline of a routine is starting to form. We haven't done too much exploring because we constantly have to run here or there to set something up. I'm excited because today we are FINALLY going to go to the beach! We did go on a tour last week of the Carib territory. We also went to Emerald Pool. It was soooooo pretty! The only downfall was we were on a tour and there were tons of people. The mountains here get A LOT of rain which creates pools like this. I wish I would have been able to take a picture of Karthik putting Ethan in the water, but Karthik put him in to fast so all I have is pictures of him crying. Poor baby the pool was cold.
I have taken Ethan to the swimming pool 3 times now and I have to say I'm jealous of him! He has a GREAT tan, while I'm still as white as you can get! He was a little scared when I first put him the pool but little by little he is getting less afraid. He entertains himself by putting his hands in the water and then sucking on them. As you might have noticed we got Ethan a crib!! It took so much stress off of me to finally get one for him. We put mosquito netting around it just as an extra precaution. It looks like it will be awhile before we are able to call anyone using Vonage. Our barrels are being shipped but with all the hurricanes and tropical storms it's causing a delay. I'm hoping by next week they will be able to continue their trip to Dominica (the ship is waiting for the storms to pass by the FL keys). Despite that we so far give everything a...

(Thumbs up)
